Introduction

Given the importance of clear and common sense thinking there is seemingly very little in the way of a supporting industry, such as there is for example with regards physical exercise. Whilst gyms for the body are everywhere, we don’t see the equivalent for the mind and the brain. There are of course a large number of products which make claims to being exercises for the mind, including for example ‘brain games’. Whilst these may be of marginal benefit in terms of keeping your mind active, they are a very very long way away from actually helping to improve your general thinking skills. There are also many courses, mostly management and business courses, which touch on a number of the topics relating to clear thinking and decision making and recognising cognitive biases for example. These however are generally very narrow in scope and targeted at a narrow audience rather than for the general public. I have no doubt that over time a more focussed industry able to support improvements in the type of thinking and attitudes expressed in this app will emerge. In the meantime however below are links to existing websites which someone interested in improving their general thinking skills might wish to check out.
